Sushi for lunch

I had sushi from Wasabi for lunch. This happens once in a while, and everytime I tell myself not to have it again. Because it really isn’t that good. Look at my sushi above; massproduced, fresh though (otherwise they would be out of business), edible but not very tasty. From now on I won’t eat their sushi again. Promise!

Instead I will go to Tobiko in Covent Garden, where I never have been disappointed. They even made me love the maki rolls more than the nigiri again, because they have wonderful combinations in them. They just taste heavenly. Everything looks so much nicer and fresher and tastes amazing! And, they have proper ginger too, not the tiny prepacked shreds of ginger Wasabi have, but big juicy slices. Yum!

Are there any other sushi restaurants out there I should try?

Midsummer!

Today in Sweden it is Midsummer, Midsommarafton, which we of course celebrate with food and drink. Compulsory is pickled herring, new potatoes, chives, meatballs, beer and snaps. For dessert it is always strawberries because they are in season, so it could either be strawberries and cream or a strawberry gateau.

May pole, in Swedish majstång or midsommarstång

Most people dance around a maypole (see left) and most girls make a garland to put in their hair. The reason for these celebrations is the pagan tradition of celebrating the summer solstice, this time of year was believed to be magical…

Glad midsommar, everyone!

The beginning

I recently started a food blog in Swedish to be able to keep track of my favourite recipes and pass them on to friends. But since I am currently living in the UK, most people who get a chance to taste my food are English speaking, so here is the English version. Enjoy!
